When Your Foundation Shakes

Here’s a glimpse of the green lush landscape around me now

Hi Everyone,

WEll, I did it, I moved to Portland Oregon From Austin Texas.

It was time to shake up my foundation in a big way.

My body, heart and mind said it was time to go somewhere new, find different kinds of support, and challenge myself to discover what's important to me now.

I want to start fresh  and support this transitional time by writing 51 daily emails to assist with Finding Our Way Back to Ourselves.

What do I mean by that?

I mean that we’re in a really hard time, especially for those of us who care about other people and live our lives by wanting the best for others.  It’s easy to get lost in all that caring for and about others.

So I wanted to take these 51 days as a meditation to explore the theme of finding my way back to myself, and helping others find their way back to themselves as well.

So, here goes…

Let’s start with some deep breathing.

I know we’re not in the same room,

but let’s do some really deep breathing together…

Let’s begin by lying down on our backs with our knees up and feet flat on the floor.  Next, place your hand on your belly, and breathe gently in and out.

On your next breath, you’re going to  HISS…. out, like you’re a snake, until all the breath leaves your body.  And when you think you can’t let any more air out,  HISS…. a little more, and then close your lips and wait.

Your body will naturally take a breath in, filling you with a large, resourceful breath, which will free your diaphragm and lungs.

Now breathe regularly, in and out, and repeat as desired.

Quick Note: Because our respiratory system is a vacuum system, even if we pass out, we can still breathe, which is great, right?!  So we can use this function to free our breath when it’s become caught or shallow.

Remember that our breath works consciously and unconsciously, so it’s a doorway into our deeper self.

Thank you for breathing with me.  I’ll be sending you emails every day, and if you want to respond, you can reply any time.

Have a great summer, and I’ll be in your inbox for a while saying Hi.

Compassion Rules,

Margery
